Influence of Dielectric Plate Parameters on the Reflection Coefficient of a Planar Aperture Antenna

In this article, an aperture antenna excited by a waveguide with circular cross-section and covered dielectric plate was analyzed via simulation calculation verified measurements. The influence of the geometrical electromagnetic parameters on reflection coefficient S11 opening systematically analyzed. taken in analysis are thickness d width/length h1/h2 plate. used real imaginary part permittivity (εr, tan δ) electrical conductivity (σ). included other structural (density radome material, relative permeability, magnetic loss tangent (ρ, µr, δµ, respectively)), but results show that range values these for materials plate, they had no significant coefficient. impedance-matched antennas very low coefficients at resonant frequency can be realized changing material. presented planar grounded plane opening, achieved lowest parameter were −45.17 dB (simulated) −43.93 (measured) frequencies 1.7820 GHz 1.7550 GHz, respectively. estimated case = 11.08 mm (0.67 λ); width × length h1 h2 423 450 mm2 (2.51 2.67 2.5, δ 0.09, μr 1, δμ 0.00, ρ 1200 kg·m−3; σ 0 S/m. measuring created laboratory model showed good match.
